Hi guys, Thought I'd introduce myself as a new member on here.

I'm 25 and an Army aircraft engineer. Living in Ipswich, Suffolk but my family lives in surrey so I'm normally between the two areas.

I bought a Discovery TD5 in march as a family child & dog carrier etc... as with most of my cars it didn't stay standard for long especially once we started taking it laning and attending pay&play days.

The disco is 7 seat ES spec with air and ACE. When we bought it:

As it stands now with 2" lift (retaining air bags), 265/75/16 AT2s and a few other bits done:

Looks good! What did you use to seal off the removed roof bars? I've got some caps for mine that if it ever stops raining for more than 10 minutes and is above freezing I'm going to try with some sealant. I took them off as I'm doing the leaky sunroofs but think it looks a lot better without them.

Cheers. For the roof rails I found some round plastic caps just the right size at work and used them along with some sealant (also "borrowed" from work :D). The plan was for them to go back on once I'd repainted them but I quite like the look without ATM.

It doesn't often look that clean TBH. It hasn't been off road since the lift and tyres due to Christmas. It normally looks more like this when its been used as Land Rover intended :)

hi mate, looks good.;)

Nice to see it dirty, many td5 discos sadly never get in that state.:(

Your right there, we hardly ever see Disco 2s when we're out.

It's a shame as the traction control makes it very capable especially combined with the D1 CDL that I retrofitted (a must IMO for any early D2). In the above pic it's still on road bias Hankook tyres and held it's own very well alongside much more hardcore metal at Bures pit.

Very much looking forward to trying it out now with the lift and ATs.

Hello
My name is George. I have a TD5 from 2001. My knowledge of mechanics is none, so please be patient with me.
Thank you
Happy Holidays !!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :tea:

What did you do with the 18" alloys in the muddy pic ?

When we first bought the disco back in march it had cheap mismatched tyres fitted that were all either sun cracked or barely legal. After a bit of searching I managed to score the five 18" hurricanes with nearly new Hankook road tyres for £300 from a breakers near Newmarket. I ran it on them for 6/7 months then sold them on ebay the other week for £340 as they still had 6mm tread left

I had planned to get round to selling the factory 16's in that time. I'm glad I didn't as it ment I had them sat in the garage to mount the Grabbers on when we decided to get a bit more serious with the off roading :)
