Just acquired my first Land Rover, a '63 series 2A 88" truck cab. It's a genuine one owner from new 52k miles but best of all I was given it! (It was my girlfriends dads)
I had to apply for the log book and now it's come through I can arrange to get it back home to start work on it.
Sympathetic restoration, total mechanical overhaul but hopefully leave the body so to the untrained eye it looks original

Welcome. What a gift. Is it a runner, what sort of condition? If it's original spec you could have a very nice vehicle.

Not sure if it's a runner, if not it won't take much I'm sure. Body wise it looks very straight even the canvas back looks good except the plastic rear window, the paints flaking in places but this is no problem.
I put a clutch in it about 15 yrs ago and it was always garaged until about 4 yrs ago, now it sits outside slowly being covered by the bramble bush it keeps company.
It's all original and has a capstan winch fitted, I will take plenty of photos before I move it and plan to start a build thread if for no other reason than to keep me motivated keeping it up to date.
I'm toying with fitting power steering as my girlfriend asked if we could to make it easier for her

Sounds good. Great to have a capstan winch. I'd love one for logging. Good luck with the project.
