Hello all,

Just a quick hello. I'm from Teesside, I've owned a Discovery I for about 3 years but is now getting a bit long in the tooth. It has 189,500 miles on the clock!!
Looks like the rear floor is rusting but mainly the bottom of the rear door frame (the bit between the back bumper and the rear floor). The bottoms of the door posts have also rotted away so I guess the sills have gone too.
I don't want to get rid of the rover and I hope to have a go at welding it up myself.
Hope someone here will be able to give some advice to help me out.

Cheers

Geoff.

Mines the same on the arse end...**** ain't it ha ha. Search on here or goggle welding forum. On phone or id send a link. Give it a go yourself, you've got nothing to lose! Good luck!

Hi Geoff,

Where abouts in teesside are you? Im outside darlington but work from Middlesbrough & Stockton most days so probably passed you at some point :) .

Theres a few people that can help you locally. The guy in my sig has just started making sill replacement parts to go with the rest od his stuff and YRM metal solutions from Bishop Auckland can be pretty handy for inner wings, boot floors etc.

:welcome2: to the looneyzone

Hello Bobbler,

I'm in Eston. I used to work in Darlo up until last year. I now work in Billingham.

I'm going to have a crack at doing the job myself as I have a MIG welder and a spot welder. Thinking of buying one of those auto darkening welding masks first though.

Cheers.

My advise would be if you're going to do it then replace whole panels, don't bother with patching ;)

I am slowly working on mine..... slowly....... very very slowly :(
