Hi All
Got my first P38 DSE Auto last week
Very pleased with it so far but as expected it's not without issues.
Remote unlocks and locks rear doors but not the fronts,
Key will lock the rear doors but not the passenger front. How likely is this to be sticky actuators or U/S lock units.

Also engine vibration at idle is a little more than expected especially when warm, nothing major and the engine is not dancing around or lumpy. all smooths out when just off idle all the way up. Do the engine mounts age or should there be any dampers fitted that are missing.

Drivers window stops 5mm short of closed with a Thump Thump Thump if you hold the button down. I believe this is just a window regulator required Yes/No?

And last The radio channel search only finds 2 or three of the strongest stations, is the reception generally poor or do i possibly have a bad ariel unit

Thanks in Advance
Karl

1) well done

2) strip out the locks and strip them down, plug em in and fiddle with the remote see whats working and whats not, usually just moving the internal parts frees em off enough to avoid buying new ones!

3) i believe this is documented, a search should reveal some tips

4) window regs are common failure points. about 40 for a replacement. some drilling and 4 nut and bolts req'd

5) look under the parcel shef supports, i think the am fm amp is under drivers side. check it is plugged in as some people mistake this for the alarm reciever( which also causes its own set of issues) and unplug it

and lastly, update your location info so any help can be directed at the folks closest to you!

and finally

I'll just add to what Gav say's, the lumpy idle may be due to the idle speed being too slow, this can I believe be adjusted via testbook or Rovercom. What is the idle speed? Could be shagged engine mounts.

Window regulators are a common failure item, I got mine from www.rimmerbros.co.uk PART NUMBER CVF100740P for the drivers side £63.62 inc VAT. probably find them cheaper on EBAY but as I'm in France not everyone will ship to me.:(

Radio reception is not brilliant as the aerial is in the glass and not as effective as an old fashiond stick on the roof, but as Gav says could be the amp disconnected or faulty.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm possibly being a bit fussy with the vibration thing, this is my first diesel car. it is purely vibration ,no lumpiness and you can't visibly see the engine moving about. I'm comparing it with my daughters 307 Diesel and in that you can't feel if the engine is running or not. Not looked at idle speed but it feels about right. for the first 30 seconds after starting the idle is higher, and a bit smoother. Is this a feature of the HOT FIX box I've got fitted?

As I have nothing to compare with I suppose the question is, Generally are these things very smooth at idle ?

I hope you have the timed hot fix. I have seen the results of not having the timer relay fitted. Big bad

I think it is timed, Popped the box open and inside is a relay but also along side it an 8 pin chip. How does this work? Is it fooling the ecu with a low temp condition for sart and the following 30 seconds

The 8 pin chip is probably a 555 timer chip which holds the relay energised for 30 seconds making the ECU think the engine is cold. Usually this mod is done to compensate for a worn injector pump. A worn injector pump will also affect the idle speed, so never mind the idle speed feels about right, what is the idle speed on the rev counter?

It idles a knats' past the 666 mark
