Hi everyone, I have just bought a 1983 Lightweight Series III. It is in fairly good nick but I would like to replace a few parts. Any suggestions for some good suppliers of ex military landrover parts, especially split tail board. I suspect they are pretty rare.

Many parts are common with the non-military series 3. Some parts now hard to get so maybe worth seeing if you can get your tailgate repaired. Look like you've got the correct military lights but suggest your rims round headlights are wrong way round!
I've got a similar vehicle but mine was fitted with a swing away tailgate at some stage to make access easier. Great little vehicles and the only things I'd suggest is replacing distributor and points set up with an electronic version. I also fitted an overdrive to mine but know others have fitted different ratios to the transfer box from Ashcroft transmissions (something I'm considering with my defender). As a matter of interest check the front propshaft has been refitted right way round. Rubber gaiter should be facing front axle otherwise it rips in contact with gearbox cross member.
