Hi All

Do the bearings in new idlers 'bed in' at all?

I've put some new ones on and as the video shows they've got a load of side to side movement in them - I made sure to install them exactly as the old ones came off. I can feel that the play is in the bearing as the inner race moves independently of the wheel by hand

I'm having the issue with both ERR6949 and ERR6658 which came from JGS 4x4 - is it worth getting in contact with their customer services and trying to talk my way into a replacement?

Thanks for your help as usual

This is another part that it is worth replacing with an original LR item. They usually last at least 100k miles, (replaced mine at 120k, as it was squeaking when cold), so worth the money IMO.

I noticed the same on my V8’s 80mm idler pulley (#PQR500060).
It had play when I wiggled it even though it was only 2 years old. I bought another new 80mm idler pulley and it had the same amount of play. Ugh.

Who'd have thought it was that hard to make a bearing with passable tolerances!

I've been in contact with JGS and there is a pair of replacements in the post already no questions asked so I'll give them credit for that

I've had it in and out so many times I've now managed to pull the thread out of the casting for the water pump, so I've got to go down the route of helicoiling it which should be fun...

Does anyone know the specs for the bolt (ERR5958) to help me source the right helicoil? The usual googling has come up with nothing as far as I can see

Cheers
