i checked at discount tire and they said that most rims wont fit my 94 defender cuz the bolt sizing is like a 3/4 or ton truck but those have 6 or 8 bolts...i want to offset my wheels too so im wondering, should i buy new hubs with a better bolt pattern or what?? thanks

i'd go wome where else that has the wheels you want. why do you want to off set yer wheels?? if you play about with the off set you put extra strain on the wheel bearings.

if you do that you run the risk of putting extra strain on yer wheel bearings.
this is because as you move the wheel further away from the parts holding it upright you increase the distance from the pivital point i.e the spring/shocks so the load on the bearings goes up accordingly.
i've no doubt someone could explain it much better than me. just be careful how far out you push them

either make no never mind to me y'awl ......... the last time she pushed them out she popped the windscreen

Ok, getting away from Slob's implants for a second (honest Gareth, that's the Slob, it ain't no mechanic. Aww, c'mon, if I got me some implants I'd give up all me other hobbies & stay in 'till the novelty wore off...........about 2020 I'd guess! The man's got too much time on his hands & Bob passed off a lump of MT sidewall as best squidgy & he's never been the same since!).......

Whereswaldo, Slob has a valid point (again, but you need a snorkel to wade through the mire of his posts in less lucid moments!). Why do you want to space your wheels? The improvement to your likleyhood of not toppling over is small compared to the extra strain your going to put on your bearings. If it's just to make your defender look more aggressive, they already do, more so in my opinion than Hummers.......They're for rappers & girls.........So, what's the point?

Just my opinion & we know what opinions are like?

Best,
Marcus.

By pushing the wheels out you increae the swept arc so decreasing the turning circle of the vehicle .... but, as stated, it does increase the strain on the pivots and bearings.

well...it has the stock suspension right now with not that much travel so i either want to get more flexible suspension or push the wheels out to keep it from rolling as easy...it looks like more flex is the good choice??

do you mean falling over or roll in the vehicle sense of the word??? as in rolling on the corners!!

simple answer is don't get into a steep sideways angle...plan yer route ahead and avoid nasty places

a good wheel shop should be able to supply them.....check out them dude from pimp my ride, west coast coustoms they seem to know what they are doing

dunno yule have to check up on the net and find out seeing as how they is closer to you than me
