Hey there, i own a 1992 defender 90 and i am trying to find some replacement seats to the stock ones. I am currently rebuilding the whole car and so i am looking to create a more 'modern' defender if that is a correct term to use, bear in mind i am 17 and so the image of the finished project may differ from traditional views :p i have found some ford seats, i believe would look perfect. (Ford Fiesta St Red Half Leather Interior, Front Seats | eBay)
However, i am not sure if they would fit? if not, would there be any chance of modifying them? such as removing the railings at the bottom and fitting them in flat to the seatbox? Please let me know if you have any ideas, or just general ideas?
Thanks, Miles

I have used full leather seats from a rover 45, needed to remove all rails and bolted direct to the seat box.
Not much help to you though as you are after ford seats.

No reason why not. You wanna make sure they come with their runners. Worst case scenario you may need two sections of 30x20 box section to adapt.

thank you that is helpful, although is it still possible to adjust the seat, for example, if the driver of the car changed and needed to adjust the seat to reach the pedals? I am not set on ford seats, just stating that the link provided is the style i am keen on, if anyone can offer any other makes that would be great too?

Anything is possible.... Especially if you can weld.
Have they got airbags in the bolsters?

I modified some seats recently to fit.. Have a look to see what might need to be done:
Seats

Unless mistaken i believe it is an MOT requirement that seats can be moves to at least 2 positions...

Many use Volvo seats. (they are by no means hip, but offer very good comfort)

IF for an MOT the seats sould be able to move it will only apply to the drivers seat. As in my Lotus Elise the passenger seat is fixed in its position ;-)

i bought adjustable bucket seats for my 90 last year, they came with rails so all i did was weld 2 lugs with holes on to 25mm x 25mm box section. Marked the holes and drilled through the seat box. i welded M8 bolts on to a bit of 50 x 50 x 6 mm plate and put them through the holes, tightend them down with a nut and washer from the top. then lifted the seats in to position and used a nut and washer to secure.

If i need in to the battery box it only takes a few mins as its 4 M8 nuts to loosen then the seat lifts out simples

I have Saab seats in my 90, went right on the rails.

thank you for all the advice, it seems that it would be pretty standard to make the seats fit :) also the mot advice is very handy, i will keep that in mind! @Issah2025 , what saab model are they?? because i like the look and think they would be perfect middle-point between modern and traditional.

I have Saab seats in my 90, went right on the rails.

they look nice and slim,,, i looked at a couple of 9000s in the yard but they were high milers so the seats were done,

the yard i use has a volvo corner so i got the best condition ones there. scrapper was laffin at me backwards and forwards for tools, bloody things took 3 hours to get out.
