Hi
Im a new owner of a 2001 3 door FL. Lots of questions.....but will ask this. My tyre size is 195/80 R15. Can I go to a 245/70/16? I have read lots of threads about tyre sizes. Any help please

Also, has anyone used Mr 4x4 based in Strood.

I would not recommend that you do this.

You are proposing over 8% of an increase in circumference here.

You will quite likely have the tyre rubbing against the strut / coil-spring housing, when the tyre flexes on even a gentle bend at moderate speed.

I am running 235/55 R17 and that is the limit of what I consider safe. I can just slide a finger between tyre and strut - that's approx 10mm.

On 16" rims the nearest equivalent to what you have is 215/65
You could easily go to 225/65 or at very most 235/60 without too much change in diameter.

You also would have to take into account what effect a tyre size change will have on your speedo.

If you were to fit 245s you would have a speedo error of 6mph at 70mph ie 76mph
Even if your speed is accurate, which most are not, you would have to be very careful for speed cameras etc.

My choice for 16" rims would be to play safe and go for 225/65
