If you don't need a cat legally why spend the extra expense on a false one?...just asking...is there not an aftermarket complete non-cat system performance available off the shelf?...

How can you legally remove the CAT? Didn't know there were exemptions.
What percentage power increase are you expecting by altering the exhaust flow?

I had a complete system from Double S exhausts on my Disco 2. Very good quality and a nicer noise without sounding like a jonboy nova with a bean tin exhaust!

I thought pre2002 didn't have a cat? @bankz5152 rates the allisport bullet silencer I think. You could just put a decat front pipe on it and leave the centre and rear boxes on. I took my centre box off for a straight pipe and its not that loud at all until you hold onto the gears, which you probably wouldn't do pulling off your drive lol

You may well find it doesnt have a CAT kind of a grey area there, some had one some didnt from what ive seen.

Allisport bullet mid box on mine, reasonably quiet driving about and very good on the mway. Put your foot down and it has a decent exhaust note, much nicer than a straight thru.

1. From what I understand 2001 was the cut off year. Vehicles up to this year could have but didn't legally have to have a Cat. Because this is restrictive I don't want it. When looking for a 110 I deliberately restricted myself to looking at vehicles up to this year. It's the same with the EGR.

2. Apparently up to +10%

Hi Bankz. Thats good to know - thanks. I've been talking to Graham at Allisport. He suggested a 'false cat' and the bullet silencer. I just wanted to get some feedback on how this setup sounded. I'm happy with a deeper exhaust note - What I don't want is people turning their heads because I sound like some numpty in a souped up Corsa with a 10" drainpipe sticking out the back. I'll probably end up putting their exhaust manifold on as well. The Allisport setup sound like it might be the answer.

Chassis number decoder.

Check your chassis number to see if yours had a CAT/EGR as standard. If it did, and you get an upset tester, you could be in for a fail under the new MOT regs. It’s been covered loads on here.

Is that pre 2002 Td5's?
My 1997 300Tdi has a CAT

That 10 percent will soon get sucked up by other things, even having a bad day will make the increase unnoticeable, if you ever could notice it in the first place. If I wanted a performance upgrade I would be looking at a decent remap first.

pretty sure MOT regs state that if a vehicle had a CAT or ERG fitted at the factory, then it has to have it for the MOT. Irrespective of when it rolled off the production line.

It does, that’s why I sent the link to the chassis decoder. So the OP could check if theirs was fitted.

Yeah I don't get op statement that it's got one but exempt
