hi all

Following having a new drag link assy fitted (not by me) my steering wheel is off centre. Is this something that is simple to put right? I.e by loosening parts of the Assyrian, shifting the wheel and re-tightening?

Cheers

Josh

Your drag link is probably longer or shorter than the one that was taken off.

Slacken the locking clamps turn the adjuster and drive up a know flat and level road to test it. Keep adjusting until it's right.

Take it in for alignment to get it done properly

Drive the car forwards at least three car lengths on a flat surface, hands off steering wheel to self centre the steering. Undo clamps on drag link (Key in ignition steering lock off) adjust length in or out until steering wheel sits in correct position. Tighten clamps. This should have been done by the person who fitted the drag link. Tracking is not effected by changing the drag link.

What wammers said. When I changed my drag link I placed glossy mags under the wheels then adjusted until the markers on the steering box lined up as per Rave.

Sometimes the marks on the steering box have to be slightly out after adjusting drag link to get steering wheel centered. This is because the steering wheel is splined and can only be fitted to the nearest 5 degrees. So with marks on steering box lined up steering wheel can be slightly out.

Yeah, that might explain the slight pull to the left I can't get rid of.

If your vehicles tracking along with the steering bits and bobs is 100% then when removing hands from the steering and on a flat road it will or should travel straight just like when it was new. :)

Many thanks Wammers

Job done.
