had to get a new drivers door does anyone have any tips for transferring the innards from the old one to the new one? The more I look the more of a job it looks!
 
You can use the other door as a pattern, so you'll know where everything goes.

Take off the door trim panel and use it as a reference.
 
It seemed like a good idea to buy a new door but I can see all sorts of things needing to be bought when they break coming out like window seals etc!

Presumably you've had the new door painted or painted it yourself? It's a fair investment, so you might as well make a decent job of it and change the stuff that needs changing.
 
Did all 4 when I rebuilt my 110 csw the channel in the door is held in with self tappers make sure you get them all but all in all it's not a bad job just fiddly.
 
The channel thing stuck to the glass will be rotted, the felt stuff the glass slides in will be split, the screws will be ferrous oxide, the threaded bushes in the exterior handle will spin in the plastic , the outter weather strip will be rigour Mortis and not seal, you won't remember where all the roads and clips go.
Straight forward.:rolleyes:
 
Take lots of reference photos of old door components before and as you remove things, then you will have a good idea of how they go back together on the new door.
 
Yes agree with that one Flossie none of mine fit properly looks like the hinge holes are slightly out , they work but they look out even the left and right side don't hang the same and I've measured the door openings and they're the same even checked them against 2 other defenders we have and there is no vast difference odd mm .
