Hi I am thinking about changing my discs and pads when the weather warms up a little (the discs are quite worn)on my FL1 TD4 I have done a search on here and, it seems no one brand is preferred ( EBC gets a mention but appear to be £110-£153 per pair direct from them) as opposed to another is that the case?

I have looked on euro car parts and discs seem to vary from £19 to £30
and pads from £16 to £30, eBay is another option with similar sorts of prices. Can I really go wrong with the brand ? are they very similar or am I missing something ? .

I anyone would like to throw another place to get them into the mix that would be good.

Thanks Dave

I did mine a few weeks back. Mintex disk and pad set for about 55 notes. All is well and braking is decent.

Tbh I replaced them when I first bought the vehicle over 7 years ago with motor factor specials and they weren't quite worn out after that time and about 60K miles. The only reason I put new pads and disks on was due to the calipers needing an overhaul. No point taking it all apart twice.

The point here is that a reasonable spend now should last a good while. As MHM sez tho, EBC are highly rated. If your budget can stretch, go for them.

though a fair few hate ebc.. think they are junk ;)

i'd go pagid, ferodo, brembo, mintex, etc

mintex pads, terrafirma discs fitted about 6 months ago, good progressive feel, will do rears with the same mix when the time comes.

Thanks for your opinions. I'll look into them all.

The EBC ones I don't think I can justify roughly X8 the cost of other brands no matter how good some think they are. Any more thoughts and opinions are more than welcome.

I have a spare set of new discs and pads, no longer need them.

EBC Greenstuff pads, and new discs (not EBC though)

Yours for £90 :)

I see Terrafirma discs mentioned above. I had them fitted to my Disco 3, for 14 months/8k miles. They came off due to a judder through the brake pedal...

I gambled in 2011 and fitted new rear calipers, discs and pads all round.
Calipers and discs were of the blue box variety with mintex pads.
So far had no problems with them.
Fitted the same to my project Discovery and again no problems.
Will be fitting them to my new P38 project.

I bought whatever it is that Famous Four sell, front and rear. Spot on and no complaints from me.

You get what you pay for. I've just fitted EBC discs and green stuff pads. Much more confidence in them now and will be good for years.

Thanks for the continued replies.

The ones mentioned above from eurocarparts were one of the options I was considering.
