Hi there, I have bought a LHD Disco 1 200tdi. She is Portuguese registered and behaves like a woman. Great to have around until there is a problem, then my goodness you know about it!

I hope that delving into all of your experienced minds will help my wife and I restore her to greatness.

Hi mate, got a little problem with her at the moment,No dash lights come up and she wont star at all. then for no reason it will all light up and she starts but then cuts out again if anything electrical is used, indicators, lights, wipers. I think there must be a junction somewhere that has corroded and is intermittently going faulty. What do you reckon?

probably an earth fault - I.E. one of the earth straps has corroded or failed - or one of the earth points has done the same....
The straps are between the chassis and engine, - should be two - one near the starter, and one onto the gearbox.... and the battery -ve is connected to the chassis roughly under the battery tray.
Earth points - there are many (!) - start at the battery, and work out - they are pretty easy to spot - a good clean up and protect with vaseline works wonders

Like a 3 door too - we have a 3 and a five - the three is nicer IMHO.

Welcome to "The Zone" @Terry Fraser , that is a nice looking Disco 200Tdi you have there, I'm particularly fond of that colour too.
Regards the problems, as has already been said, check the earths, once you get on top of the problems you should have a great daily driver that will take you anywhere you want to go.
