As an old gimer with a 1990 on an 'H' plate, how come yours is a year older and on an 'F' plate?

I quite like it. The Land Rover diesels were in my view a bit small and this is a decent size lump. Yes you will struggle with hoses and the like but I run a Series 2a with a 3.3l Perkins and you get hoses off e-bay from custom car suppliers. It will probably be nice to drive with the extra torque and better on the motorway. Its a commercial engine so it should be quite economical.

F reg came out in Aug 1988 and ran until Aug 1989, G reg ran from Aug 1989 until Aug 1990, H reg ran from Aug 1990 until Aug 1970. So the F reg must have been registered between Jan - Aug 1989 and yours from Aug to December 1990.

I've still not decided!! Heard the Nissan engine is pretty bulletproof, hasn't got service history!!! Looking at a few more 110 csw too.
 
Get a compression test. Look at maintenance history, if you can. Colour of oil? Cold starting? Exhaust colour? Caution is best exercised before you buy. If its running hot, run away. LOL. Its easy to check actual temperature with those little infrared guns.
 
If you decide on buying it, before parting with any cash get an insurance quote after informing insurance companies of "ALL" changes from standard spec. Make sure seller tells you of all the changes including wheels etc.
 
Thanks guys. I've decided to leave this one alone! Too many negatives. Was clinging on to the fact it was reasonably priced & not a million miles away from Cornwall!! Will cast my eye further afield & raze my budget I think.
 
Its not just the engine you would have needed to check but the way its fitted. I had a RRC with a big Perkins in it. A great engine for the right vehicle but in the rangey it kept breaking fuel pipes with the vibration, then the exhaust and so on. I swore I would never get another non landy engine conversion.
