Clutch has started slipping on my 2002 td4...

What should I expect to pay for a replacement to be fitted?

Is it worth taking it to a Landy specialist or will a clutch specialist do the trick?

£200 with parts.

Local specialist in Warrington quoted around £450!!

Can buy the plate from Paddocks for £65 + VAT. How much should labour be and are there any other parts?

Loads of clutch kits on Ebay... is a non-original one OK?

AP Driveline and Borg and Beck are the ones I've seen.

Should be able to get it done cheaper if I supply the parts...

Borg and Beck seem to have a good reputation in online reviews and they seem to come with a 2 year warranty... not sure how this works for labour costs though!

Any advice anybody? Want to get this sorted int he next couple of weeks...

When your in there, you are as well replacing the plate, the release baring and possibly the release fork, I know I would as mine has just collaspsed in my 90... You got to look at it this way, replace everything in there, then you will get hopefully maximum time before you need to do this again.

Could you do the job yourself? Do you have time and a friend to help, get the parts, seperate the box from the engine, and fit the parts, stick it back together.

Its quite a long job to get the boxed moved, once out its a 20min job, which makes you sick really.

You would need someone to help ideally and good trolly jacks, lifting gear etc...

not really got all that stuff or the time, disco.

The release bearing is part of the hydrolic slave cylinder, from what I can gather, so I'll just buy the clutch and slave cylinder and hope the flywheel is OK... as that's an extra £300 i think!

The release baring is what the fork pushes on, which is pushed by a rod from the slave cylinder. The baring costs about £10. Your flywheel should be fine.
