Thought I'd introduce my new D2, bought to replace my lovely old one that was murdered by an imbecile in a Mini.

I set out to replace like with like, so we were looking for an 80k-ish, X reg or thereabouts 5 seater with ACE and 16" wheels, so naturally ended up with a '03 7 seater with no ACE, 18" wheels and a DVD player in the roof!
We bought it mainly because it was in such good condition and 70k miles, and was the first car we went to see that made us go 'Oooh', instead of 'Oh dear' (most amused to see some traders still putting 'first to see will buy' on the adverts!). There just don't seem to be any low mileage 5 seaters for sale anywhere near us.
Must admit were getting fed up with looking, 60 - 70 miles is a long way to go to see a car described as 'excellent' and then turns out to be a bit tatty, but you just don't know 'till you get there, so really pleased to find this one as it seems to have been very well looked after, clean inside, outside and underneath.
None of the spec differences are that big a deal, we just don't need 7 seats, three spoke wheels or wider tyres, but those things can be changed if needed (apart from the extra £55 of road tax!).
I do have a few questions on it, but I'll ask those under separate posts.

Very nice! Well prepared for sale, makes a nice change to a lot that you see.
Low mileage, so running gear should be ok, But prob lots of school runs!

Same wheels as mine, but mine is 5 seat, ACE and radio has sat nav.

Does yours have CDL?

Looks nice mate. We did a 600 mile round trip to buy what was described as excellent.. Came home empty handed and peed off. Lol.

Sadly no. His front offside hit our drivers door, ran down the length of the car and managed to bend the rear axle outboard of the shock absorber. This knocked the back of the car towards the verge just in time to clip the chevrons sign, which dented the nearside rear wing, shattered the rear window and pinged the bumper off. This kid didn't do things by half.
Our car was written off because the insurers chosen garage wrote a huge list of bits (some of which weren't damaged!) and asked LR for a quote - result, £9k worth of parts and labour needed! I was seriously considering buying it back, but just couldn't be sure that the chassis was still straight. I would still have it for spares, but have nowhere to keep it.
As his car was a 62 reg Mini Coupe it was probably worth twice the Discos value, at least as far as the insurers were concerned, so may well have been fixed, assuming the cars structure wasn't compromised.

No, I got excited as I thought the label on the dash seemed to imply it had, but the top of the lever just says H N L and doesn't move side to side, so I guess not.

Thanks - I feel your pain!

Pity I thought all of that age had it, was £250 option on mine I found

For the 2004MY diff lock was standard on the ES, all the rest it was a £250 option so get an ES no forget about the option list :D

Mini is a just a boring box, I hope it got scrapped. but the real reason is that there are a lot of high value items on a Discovery 2 for scrap, a good TD5 is worth a LOT.
