Hi Folks,

Never thought I'd be a Land Rover owner.........but I am :)

Brief background:

I have been a Skoda driver for years. And I still would be but....
I am a window cleaner and use the brush and pole system. I now have 2 of us working and need to take out a good 650 litres of water and equipment so I bought a box trailer with a 100ltr tank...................poor Skoda :eek:

"Oh dear, darling" I says "We really NEED a Land Rover to pull this "
So here I am with a X reg Discovery TD5. Just getting used to it NOT being a Skoda......it's a truck

Of course, business wise, a Trani van would have been best but..
We need a family car at weekends and a work horse in the week and we can't afford 2 vehicals so this was the way to go.

Welcome.
But just one thing before you get set upon ....

It ain't a truck!

OK...
Thanks for the etiquette lesson. But I hope you understand what I mean......from Skoda Octavia to Land Rover Discovery. Difference in driving.
Out of curiosity.....why NOT A TRUCK? Newbie's stupid question .

Why not a truck? For the same reason it ain't a jeep!

Landrover is such an identifiable and iconic marque as a Great British* four wheel drive vehicle, Jeeps are another make of 4x4 from somewhere over the water and trucks are big things with lots of wheels and a swively bit behind the driver's cab.

It's a bit like calling your old Skoda a VW.

Again, welcome.

* That's "Great" as in Great Britain

nice set up, im doing the same for my general building buisness , discovery + trailer, as i need a car also for the kids seems to works well.
enjoy !

Completely understand and agree. I was suggested many "Chelsea Tractors" but to me a 4x4 IS a Land Rover end of.
:)

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome.
I've been thinking.
I headed this post: New Boy with New Toy.
Well to be perfectly honest my Land Rover Discovery is NOT A toy....
I bough it for our main car and my work.
If I were to go off road and anything breaks I'm in the **** 2 ways.
Could be costly and no car AND workhorse.
You guys who do off roading no doubt your Landy is your toy and you have another car for main use.
Shame....But I have to be sensible :-\
