Good news!!

came home and stripped all the gubbins off the top of engine so i could get in closer and the source of the water leak turns out to be the little metal pipe that goes into the head between water pump and what im guessing is the thermostat housing? is held in by one bolt so im hoping its just a case of replacing an O ring unless theres meant to be a gasket in there? anyone know any different?

Also discovered that the head looks brand new....or to have been replaced very very recently despite me having no paperwork to back this up its blatantly obvious its not been on there long...wonder what happened there...looked like it would have been expensive anyway...

In other news i do have the old blue dot reciever under my back shelf so blue wire duly disconnected till i can get my hands on a green dot one :)

Going back to the spring/bag conversation the springs and shocks ive got on there are rock hard, had the trailer on there yesterday with a car on it and the rangey didnt drop an inch,if anything it was picking the front pair of wheels on the trailer off the floor at times lol but its apparently adjustable so i might try and bring it down at a later date :D

Don't buy a new RF receiver off Ebay, they can be an old receiver in a new box. The part number you need is YWY500170:)
EAS, nice smooth ride no matter what the load:D:D

Cheers datatek,im assuming i got to go to landrover for that?

You are right about the eas ride,it is lovely, springs are noticeably different as in a lot firmer but i dont think it helps that mine is at its highest setting,i think itll improve if i bring it down a bit,it tends to find the tracks in the road a lot more than the others i drove too which can make for an interesting drive given the state of some of our roads at the moment lol

The sure way to tell is to look inside the box

theres a couple on ebay,160 quid!!! feck that, itll just have to make do with the wire disconnected,it still blips the locks ok..... :p

Can't help feeling you're going to see an osteopath with springs that hard. Reminds me of a hard-tailed chopper (motorbike) I once rode-for half a mile, never again.

If it's adjustable that's not too bad, unlike pretty much all coils from Japanese 4x4s... I refer to the Top Gear Bolivia Special

Drove home tonight with a huge smile on my face for the 1st time since ive had my rangey, reason for this being shes still holding her water after replacing the fiddly O ring the other day but this evening fitted a new Auto Transmission Cooler as the old one was leaking which in turn led me to drive it quite gingerly in case i blew it completely so now completely leak free!! :D

For the moment anyway lol :p

I got mine off ebay a chap is selling them at £40 plus £5 postage he has sold quite a few, brand new and correct part as i opened it up before i fitted it. Has sorted out the flat battery problem :)

the oil cooler you replaced, was it the gearbox oil cooler?
if it was, i suggest you urgently check the gear box oil,
i had a "minor" leak on my 99, 4.6 hse, cost me a lot of
hard earned with g/box repair,
nb, i only know my RR, so what the oil burner type have
i don't know, just sayin'

Check for what bud? we refilled it to correct level with new fluid if thats what you mean :) nearly 2 litres came out when pipes were removed so binned that, fluid looked a bit cloudy if anything but not "burnt" and smelled normal.
Has made quite a noticeable difference in the way it drives, seems more smoother and accelerates quicker if that makes sense?
Going to give it a couple of weeks then drain the lot and replace with new :D

Little late here but welcome to the forum :)

Shame that someone has changed your rangie over to springs - Air suspension is so much better! Nice looking car thought - Well done :)
