Hi as the weather up here has started to get quite cold its taking longer to start the disco. Have no idea how long the battery has been on it so am thinking about putting a new battery on it before i get stranded :(

Have done a few searches on here and found some good info about battery sizes and cca.

Anyone got a battery bargain recently with high cca to fit a 300tdi disco???

Cheers ;)

Have you changed the glow plugs recently ?

as I left my D1 dti standing for best part of last year, its old battery went `orf.
I tried the battery reviver trick of "epsom salts" but was useless.
I did have 2 good mondeo diesel batteries sitting in shed, so dropped them in the 2 trays, joined by cable as one power source.
now got 1200 amps of starting power!
D1 dti jumps into life without glow plugs needed!

Yep the glow plugs are fine, the engine is really slow to turn over and looks like the battery doesn't hold a charge - so think its knackered :(

Just thought i'd ask if anyone had bought a good battery (min 600 cca) recently??

Cheers

Thanks for the tip mate have just had a look and found an "alphaline" calcium battery 650cca for £63 inc vat and delivery :)

I'll get 1 ordered on payday and post how it goes :)

Will probably use the old battery as the 2nd battery on a split charge system :)

Cheers!!!!
:D :D :D

That's what I have for just over a year although it 610cca on the label. It just fits my disco I had to reposition the front fixing post.

Stick the biggest bugger in it that will fit, I got a tractor battery (1000 cca's) from my local auto electrics place for £65, never fails to start. ;)

Yep i'll be getting 1 asap and a tmax split charge system so i can use em both :)
Will just run all the spotlights and work lights and spare sockets from the 2nd battery.

Thanks for the link - cheers!

The alphaline calcium 1 looks good with vat and delivery included for £63 so that will do the job - will have a second battery that i'll be able to link through the split charge too - so that will really do it :D

Cheers ;)

Just bought one of those from Performance Batteries myself. Seems like good stuff.

One minor problem - I was going to mark the installation date on the label but the years only go up to 09. About time they bought some new labels!!

U must have a different lable, I will have a look at mine but is it not from zero or 1 up to 9, mine doesn't have a zero before any number so I take it for 2010 =0 if thats there, and 2011 =1, 2012 =2 etc etc. but who knows.

:doh: Just never thought of it that way.

have fitted same battery and works well also built my own split charge system from a link on here ??
cost next to nothing to make and fit and works my spots and 1300lb winch/also cb a treat mate maybe worth a looky to see if could make your own split charge system same as mine :lol:

Yep might be an idea to make 1 up but i like the functionality of the tmax system and it shows the levels in each battery with a manual link facility.

Cheers

Put it on the disco yesterday mate - works a treat.
The engine starts first turn of the key, not sluggish at all.
Fitted the t-max split charge system too, and that works really well too.

The alphaline battery is a 610cca and is a perfect fit in the battery tray.
Bit of a bargain !!!
