Afternoon all. Bought a new rear door from paint man panels. Looks really good. But it has a bracket below the lock mine doesn’t have.

any idea what it is for? I have asked them but weekend etc

Looks like the standard guide plate. Mine has it on there and it holds a brass pad that locates into a dovetail bracket on door frame. Seems to hold door nicely and stop the rattling! Not sure when it was removed from door frames (in terms of model years)..

Thanks for the replies - just to close the loop - Paintman Panels got back to me super quick this morning. murdomac you called it right maybe related to rear mounted wheels too.

That is exactly what is it for, the s/h replacement door I have just fitted has one and the brass block that mounts to it as well. I do not however have the dovetail bracket that fits to the tub for it to go into! I have the mounting holes and the tell tale marks where the bracket was previously fitted but no bracket.

I bought a rear door from Paintman Panels and it did not have this bracket. I know because my old door did and there is nowhere to put the brass block.
