Managed to snap the aerial on my Freelander so need a new one - did the normal check on ebay and found loads of people selling stumpy jobs like:

LAND ROVER BLACK BEE STING FREELANDER +TIPS | eBay

Anyone used one before or am I better of buying OEM type? Interested in the stumpy ones as I quite often use the roof bars (which is how I snapped the original). Don't want to sacrifice reception for convenience!

stumpy ones are poo for reception.

base should allow you to fold the aerial flat to the roof when loading stuff on the roof.

oem mast and base, ebay is your friend.

I've just bought both types on ebay - going on holiday in June with a roof box fitted - would be nice to have the radio on and not listen to bang bang all the time as the aerial hits the roof box - don't want it sticking right up in case anyone thinks I'm a CBist!

iv got the sat nav and my aerial broke £45 for new on landrover part only rip off as it part of the nav eqp

I've done over 40K at all speeds in all weathers with a roof box and never heard any noise from it once.

How come yours is able to make any noise?

Probably coz I broke it with 8x4 sheets of ply when building my workshop - certainly moved a lot for the last few months before finally snapping off!

Stumpy aerial arrived yesterday and around town works very well - got a trip to Eastleigh tomorrow so will see as I pass the Basingstoke to Winchester dead spot on the M3...

Looks a bit better than the standard one too - not that I really care what it looks like, it is a Land Rover so never going to be pretty.

Fair enough, I guess the Freelander is the prettiest of the bunch, but they are not really designed with beauty in mind.

Mind you I used to have an Alfa 75 which I thought was pretty!
