bloody red oxide! tis a big red hand print on me kitchen door ya messy bugger!:D looking forward to doing the outriggers now though mate.:)

lol i hope it washes off ok! Painting your department from now on? Its apparent actual LR paint shop employees havent a clue!

You're getting there!

Can I add, don't put the tow bracket back on the same way it was fitted when you bought it, the rear crossmember is not strong enough for mounting it like that, even less so now you have an aftermarket, thinner steel, replacement.

It should have the mounting plate and the two stuts which connect to the chassis rail.

Hey mate thanks for the concern. Do not fret however. I dunno how thick that rear plate is, maybe BigSi can have a nose and tell you. But its designed to be recovered off and is stupid thick and reinforced (also heavy :-/ )

Little bit of work today. Got both rear outriggers off, prepped and welded a new one back on. The near side outrigger was the worst bodge i have ever seen. Remnants of the original were tack welded on to some copper pipe that was hammered into the chassis. Luckily i managed to get most of it out before welding the new one on. The offside one was a nightmare too. Every bolt was either welded on or so rusted it needed cutting off. No matter. 8mm bolts are hardly rare. On to the pics!

More work on Lé Bogey!

Got my upper spring retention gear on, mounted my springs to the chassis, Got my 2" Shock droppers and +2" pro comps on. Got the rear axle in with new bushes in the trailing arms. Brakes all bled.

Running Gear is now FINISHED!!!!!

More work on Bogey today....

Hardy Spicers in the rear prop, new bump stops all round. And O/S/F outrigger replaced.

My god that last one was a major effort. Hard getting access to cut the old one off, then finding a mahoosive hole, crudely patched up by the DPO with 1.2mm steel :/ Cut all that crap out and bladdered in a nice thick piece

More picatures!!!

****ty DPO patch

**** cut away ready for patch

Patch fed inside chassis and seemed up

Various chicken **** welding pics :)

Loads of work done again today.

New Doors on with ally military tops. Swapped the locks over from old doors as i have the key and they fit the strikers better.

Cut the tailgate mounts off old crossmember and welded them onto new one, fitted tailgate very nicely.

Decided to modify my snorkel to fit as a 300 rather than a 200 as my N/A heater box would majorly get in the way of any pipe work. Sorted that mod out and attached it to the wing. Drilled some holes in the windscreen surround and used some self tappers to attach snorkel brackets.

Also fitted my BFG MT's and took off my ruined sills in preperation for some rock sliders :)

PICS!!

Good stuff, but that welding is ................well,,,,,,,,,er,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just,,,, er chicken ****.

Cheek lol. Show me your welding to 30 year old porous as f00k ****ty steel. I could dress it back to be alot prettier, but as long as its solid with good penetration and not just surface weld then i am not all that fussed ;)

Few more bits done,

re-hinged one door, drilled and tapped t-box for handbrake bracket, removed old busted seat box, plumbed snorkel in, cut and fit rocker breather to new pipework.

Great thread and an enormous amount of work carried out. Well done, I can't wait to see the final pics when it's all painted.
