Welcome fellow Kernow dweller.
I had a V6 Hippo for 2 years (2003 - 2005) - I hope you have better luck than me.
Mine got through 2 engines and 1 gearbox in 60 k miles - all replaced under warranty fortunately, but it spent 10% of it's time with me off the road.
It also had an intermittent sudden total loss of power, which the dealer never got to the bottom of.
Great car to drive though - when it was going!
Got rid when it did the loss of power thing when the Doris was driving and doing an overtake (most unusual for her!) She said either the car had to go or she would.

Tips - check that the electric fans are working correctly - overheating just a little bit even once will kill the engine.
- Check the oil and coolant levels regularly and keep it topped up (but not over filled)

You'll get to know your local filling station well - I could never better 20mpg or just over 200 miles to a tank.
