I can get out there but not for at least an hour and a half. Alternatively. Have ramps, tools and kettle about 10 miles from Penistone if it will limp that far. Can someone pass on my number please as messaging from a phone.

What tools are required?

Chris

I'm guessing

engine under guard = spanners/sockets
alternator = sockets/spanners to remove it
tensioner = ratchet 3/8 at a guess, to turn it to take belt oft

sorry a number i can be got on is ********************** (plse send by PM - not on a public forum~)

Doesn't the tensioner need a 24mm combination spanner?

yes you need a 24mm ring spanner with a slight of set to pull the tensioner down and there is not much room in between the sides and the engine the alt can be got out without taking the air con off if he has air con . he may not

PIG TO CHANGE A ALTERNATOR ON A TD4 ,done one on the wifes rover has the same lump, common for them to die if a oil change has been done and oil from the filter change gets in it

got the alt all fitted now ,runs like a dream again :):):)

once again thanks to everyone on the forum the system in place on this forum for drivers in trouble is BRILLANT !!!!!!!

THANK YOU ALL TONS

HAVE A MERRY XMAS

Fresh battery on a diesel driving at day time with no lights on he'll easily do 50 miles and then some. It's only powering the ECU and a few other bits...
Few other bits like all the computers, heated wing mirrors etc. Freelandesr have a lot of electrical items.

Don't take the peee guys, this is a serious part of LZ.

Mind you I would love to see the pics of the aftermath if he ever did a rescue attempt:D:D

Things would be on fire, children would be dead and a cow will escape from a field somewhere - the aftermath of SpiritMR helping an LZIR member change a tyre.
