ive been having a knock on what sounds like the rear of my td5.
I initially thought it was the watts linkage as when I rocked the vehicle side to side it would clunk so I replaced it for a second hand one where the bushes were changed and only used for approximately 3 miles before being stood still. They were only britpart bushes but thought that they would be better than my knackered ones.
It was replaced and I still had a kind of clunking noise. It was advised it could be my drop links so I changed the rear links for D2 fronts as I have a 2" lift and I'm going to put D3 front links on the front ( not done them yet).
I've also replaced the arb bushes on the front and back.
I've also got new britpart shocks and springs (HD) 2" .
I've also replaced the front prop.

I'm still getting the loud clunking / rattle when going over rough ground, potholes and speed bumps.
I don't know what else to check and looking for advice ?

Also, I've noticed that since I removed the old drop links on the rear and replaced them with oem the vehicle feels really bouncy and wobbly. Is this normal ?
 
Not much else, you seem to have covered most things; Exhaust?
I've got the 2" suspension and that's fine so yours should be too, that kits quite good.
Drop links shouldn't make a difference unless broken.
 
I have recently had a side exit exhaust done and I didn't hear any difference as I had the knocking before it was done. The noise have got worse since the suspension fitted but they are brand new.
 
I'm sure they cause noise as mine did when they were completely shot even when the vehicle was rocked from side to side... as about the change i'm clueless cos for these kind of pure mechanical jobs i have a skilled mechanic
 
Shot in the dark here but is the ACE still fitted. Mine started knocking when the ACE was disconnected. I never traced it but thought it could be the rams having no oil in them.
 
Drop links ... don't know about back ones, but I spent a fun few weeks chasing a front clunk that turned out to be the shank at the bottom of the link moving around in its hole on the axle.

Either the cheapo aftermarket links I tried first were too small for the hole or they couldn't take the torque (can't remember which). Switching to OEM fixed it.

I do recall it was very tricky to track down, a lot of force needed to make them move in the hole.
