Hi all. New to Land Rovers and have a 1.8 k series. Needs servicing badly as it doesn't seem to have been done in a long time. i have also noticed oil leaking from the area behind the sump where there seems to be another type of draining plug. could anyone advise me as to what this could be and how to resolve the problem.

NO PETROL/MATCHES COMMENTS PLEASE. LOL.

diesels quite hard to set alight - white spirt or turps a reckon

pah no need for either, just leave the hairdryer on for 10 mins and freebie will spontaneously combust

Not if you use the sports recaro seat with technocloth covered foam as a catalyst and wick!

Could for a dramatic effect and use paraffin n' fireworks, would look good on youtube....

probably the oil drain plug for the sum (should be lower, back end of sump pan) when you change the oil, pick up a new one, only a few quid. Pick up fresh leads as well as plugs etc - give it a good service forthe summer!

more info would be useful, could be oil leaking form your IRD.

it's coming from behind the oil sump. there seems to be another sump plug but larger and it is just a little higher up than the oil sump.
