Hi all just looking for some wisdom reguarding a problem that annoys me every time I need to fill up , my p38 was a 4.0 v8 petrol but was converted to 300tdi but the fule filler was never changed and when I fill up it’s a slow process , pump allways clicking off . Is there a reducer of some sort to change diameter of diesel pump to petrol , or can you change the filler cap and pipe going to tank . Thanks Liam

Not sure what fule is but you could certainly change the fuel filler pipe with one from a scrapper for a diesel.

I have the same problem on my L322. According to the paperwork, it has always been diesel.

I'm too lazy to have done anything, and its annoyance diverts me from stressing about the cost of the fuel.

Why the fook would ya put a 300tdi in a P38!

Sacrilage i tell ya :D
Was done when a bought it . Was converted with a rebuilt 300tdi it’s only got 50000 on it , drives fine pulls well , pump tweaked has Morgan hill boost pin , full ss straight through exshaust , uprated turbo . Sits at 90 no problems at all , but like you say it’s no v8 nor does it sound like that . Will do me tho , not a bit of rust on her .

No problem filling up my l322, full blast with nozzle till last couple litres then slow it down a bit ( hand tired by now) and before you know it £100 plus gone in !

I don't know the 300tdi, but I doubt it's worse than the BMW M51 lump of shyte.

4.0 litre will be unleaded only so will have a small fill neck. It should be possible to fit the larger diesel filler neck. Problems may arise with vent pipes though.

M51 is far superior. Actually a very good engine.
A good engine? Bugger all low down torque and and as rough as heck.. Must give credit to German engineers, not many people can design a diesel with no bottom end torque and it must be hard to make a six that is so rough. The six cylinder Iveco truck I used to drive had a smoother engine, as does my 4 cylinder Transit lump which also manages to have good torque from almost tick over.

You must have had some rough badly maintained M51s. Mine is as smooth as silk and with it's ECU chip sets off like a rocket.
