After an off-roading incident I cracked the screen on me 90 - now made worse after having to weld the bulkhead corners. Where can I lay me hands on a cheap complete front windscreen screen in Cornwall? Is there anyone I can take my old screen to and have them cut a replacement out of laminated glass? MoT time is coming all too quicky (17th Aug) so I need a new screen ASAP..... :(

Can't you claim on your insurance? Most are only a £50 excess, mine isn't even that, it's free. Just tell em a bird hit it or something.

I got a new one (proper laminated) for £75 by ringing a local bloke in the Yellow Pages. I was getting quotes for more than £170 from all the big names

If you can get one from a breaker it's a piece of **** to fit into your frame. Easier than unbolting everything and swapping the frames over.

Theres a land rover breaker in St. Day, can't remember his name but i know hes at the bottom of the village, south east i think, and the locals will know where it is properly.

Hope he can help!

My insurance doesn't cover windscreens :(

Will try to find out where the Landy breaker is in St. Day - I don't know around that area so need to do a bit of searching. Failing that it's off to a plate glass supplier to have one cut. Not too worried about fitting it, just trying to find a piece of glass to fit!

Didn't know there was a Landy Place in St Day!!!!
Flat lam is cheapest option, although must be a good cut, too small will tend to leak without a shedload O sealer, to big will crack on fitting.......you may be able to buy a new en direct from Ladaw or BSG, although you might need a motor trade contact to do it for you.
Used screens are ok but they can crack when fitting due to age, or chips.
Would recommend a new rubber whilst you're doing it.

Apparently there's a good landy breaker down Crowlas/Cockwells/Ludgvan way somewhere

I found the St Day one once while i was on holiday there last year, its basically a big shed, and he has huge amounts of bits of stuff lying around, lots of old engines etc, and a few complete ish landrovers about. Well, he did last year.

Once again, sorry about being so vague, but the locals should know it, they helped us out when we were trying to find it.

Visited Andy Richards in Carharrack (about a half mile from St. Day) and collected a screen in it's frame for fifty sheets :D - I reckon this is the place you're on about boydy. Actually found his exact location through one of the receipts in BustRucket's documents - he did the ToM last year.

Local glass place wanted forty quid to make a screen, but couldn't supply until next week, and couldn't gaurantee fit.

Cheers!

Yeah thats his name, and my apologies! I just remembered looking at St Day on the OS map. Glad you found him and a screen!
