Having moved to the area, it's time to sort my landy. I need a new alternator and do not want to get ripped off. I have looked on the forum and the two garages I have found locally have been slated on here. Please can you recommend anyone or a garage please? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I live in a flat and my landlord has asked me to move my eyesore of a landy from it's parking space. I cannot work on the landy where it is. Hence the need to get it sorted asap.

If the vehicle is taxed and tested and adequately insured, why does the landlord want you to move it ?
Because it looks different !!!!

Is the parking space part of the rental agreement. I'd be inclined to ignore him.

I live in the area and have used AL Services and T Johnson Landrover. Not sure if these are the 2 you say have been slated, but I've found them both very reasonable when working on my 2 discos and my p38. Al did my alternator on my 300tdi when it went.

If the parking space is written into your rental agreement you have every right to park there.

Take it down to your nearest supermarket car park and fix her in the corner. I'd be tempted to do it in your rented car space, but sometimes it's just better to keep the landlord sweet.
I definitely wounldn't be paying for an alternator to be fitted, it's a quick and simple job!

As above if you want to keep the landlord happy. I know someone that converted a van into a campervan in a B&Q car park, took a week and nobody noticed :)

Well as it happens, they made numerous visits into B&Q for bits as and when needed. Pretty good plan I thought, no wasted fuel or buying too much of anything. Was a 'she' not a 'he' :D;)
