i dont go out every eve so it may be left on from previous outing,but if i do go out a couple of eves in a run i can assure you it gets fitted!!!!!!
5 mins for wheel clamp and then another 5 mins for the clutch and steering wheel lock i can bring me self to do that

I am not trying to have a go at you. Since I have had 1 landy nicked and sold on via ebay and then a 2nd landy that someone has attempted to nick, bypassed the alarm, snapped the steering lock and then pushed it down the road and tried to burn I know what it is like. I also work with stolen cars everyday.
When your car doesn't start do you open the bonnet or the door to get it running?

If you are inside a vehicle and the owner is stood outside it is hard to get out without getting caught.
Often car thieves targetting specific vehicles will get the bonnet up and engine running BEFORE getting into your car. It is much easier to run if you are spotted.
If it's just joyriders out to get any car they see then they will get in your car to start it.

It's simple... if the bonnet is up then, in the eyes of joe public, the OWNER OF THE VEHICLE is trying to fix it... even if they're breaking into the door (they've obviously locked their keys in it) or smashing the steering lock (they're obviously ****ed off that they can't fix it) once they've forced a door or unlocked it with a coat hanger, as everyone KNOWS that you can't open the bonnet unless you can get inside... even though you can.
So instead of having about a minute, usually, before plod get informed and are on their way... they've got all the time in the world... oh yeah... and yer alarm won't go off when the door gets opened, further 'proof' to the casual observer that the monkey nicking your pride and joy is the 'owner' so they won't bother reporting anything.
