my sidelights work fine as does the main beam on my 1999 freelander but normal headlights dont work on the nearside.

i have changed the bulb - but no difference, i have checked with a voltmeter and the nearside is getting the same as the off side which makes me assume that the power is there. i have bent the contacts a little in theclip which attaches to the bulb to ensure contact - no change

what can it be ? i can only think its the attachment to the bulb - anyone had this before or can help ?

Had this on a 300tdi - and ABS light wouldn't go off neither when it happened. Bad earth! Ran a new earth lead to chassis from earth terminal; cured headlight and ABS light at same time!

bad earths are great ent they? my indicators worked fine till the headlights were turned on then nuthin. again bad earth

sorry bit of a novice - how do i check the earth or is it just a case of running an extension from another working earth to check if the light comes on ?

Yeah that will work - easier is to use a multimeter to check resistance to a good earth n also that u have the full 12v at the bulb.
