The thing that ****es me off with all this is that the cops and local goverments are trying to stop peole using greenlanes so we stopped using lanes and moved onto local pay n play sites then low and behold the cops have started coming over to the sites now to check vehicles, you just cant win.

Ya don't need tax mot or insurance or even a driving licence on P&P so only thing they can check for is stolen motors so can only be a good thing.

What did they say they were checking for? Can't check your vehicle unless they stop you for a moving violation or it's been authorised by a senior officer.
 
They said they were getting complaints from the locals living on the lane which runs to the site so they were doing general checks on the vehicles and taking details of all the drivers.

all the coppers have got to say is "they're doing routine checks" and they can stop anyone, anywhere.
 
then you say, excuse me may i have your name and badge number, i am going to phone the independent police complaints commission as i feel unduly harassed and restricted by your stopping me
 
aye but that dunt announce to him that you feel he is hindering your lawful entrance to a private property
 
ask him for the number for professional standards as you believe that you are being delt with with unfairly and that as a minority group ( land rover owners ) you are being harassed
 
The point i was trying to make was simply no matter what you do in a 4x4 your just always wrong and your always gonna be an easy target, i use the m1 every day to get to work and i sometime use the range rover when the wife wants the car and ive been stopped for no paticular reason a couple of times had the regular checks and then told i could move along and as soon as you ask for there details they get very anti social and when you ask why your stopped they come out with the statement due to local landrover thefts.
 
I got stopped last week on way home from Minty's. Next time pre empt em Tell em you want a written reason for the stop before you are prepared to converse with them. then Name address & nothing else.
 
Unless they are stopping you for a particular offense, you are under no obligation to even give them your name and address.
 
Is it just me that thinks it's easier to let them run their checks? It takes all of about 5 minutes with today's computer system and if you are legit then what's to worry about? I always take my docs with me in the landy as the liklihood of a check is so much greater. Sometimes it's a pain, but if they catch the uninsured/ taxed/ MOT'd then the roads are safer. Some of the cocks giving us a bad name surely will get caught, whereas we just have to grit our teeth and smile a bit?
 
sod em, they know if you have insurance mot tax just by the number plate, everything is on computers, they are looking for other faults
