I thought it was about time I bought a diagnostic kit, as I currently have no faults and money in my pocket!!

So I've been reading on here, seen videos on youtube and think the nanocom would suit me the best.

Now, before I go further and possibly make a silly error I thought it best to ask a couple of questions.

1) My RR is the 2000 4.6 V8, so my thinking is that I need the "Motronic" version, Correct?

2) The only place to buy one is from Black Box (£382, delivered)? Correct? Anyone know of a better price?

Thanks in advance.

No i have never seen one cheaper. But there is someone selling the diesel version on here. He wants £300.00 for it, that plus a Motronic access code from Black Box would be less than £382.00.

Plus you would have a unit that will be able to access the Diesel P38 aswell as your P38 too.....so you can help others :D

But the nanocom is locked to the vin so you cant help others? unless its the older rovacom or more expensive evo?

Nanocom isn't locked to VIN, your probably thinking of FaultMate. They are locked to the specific engine type, so for example if you only have it unlocked for diesel, you can still access the BECM of a petrol P38 but you won't be able to access the engine management with it.

You can however buy another unlock code that will unlock it for GEMS or Motronic petrol versions.

Point made, I think there is confusion in the names. I thought it was only me. I had the faultmate NANO which was vin locked. Then by chance I got hold of a rovacomlite which is not vin locked. Now I realise the NANOCOM is the latest which is not vin locked. So be careful with what you buy!

Unfortunately Wammers that one is sold.

Speedyyellow - I see yours is a 4.6, am I looking at the correct version - motronic?

The more you buy the cheaper they are,I would also be interested in buying one if anyone else is thinking the same.i think 4 or more 10%discount,mine is 4.6 gems

Right, one question answered.

If no-one comes up with where to buy one cheaper over this weekend and no-one wants to sell me theirs:D, and I don't spend it all on beer in the meantime:eek::eek:, then it looks like the Motronic version from Black Box next week!!

Cheers (having a nice pint of Dark Star Kipling ale!!)
