tell the bcu that i do indeed have a heated windscreen and see if i can register the fob that broke yesterday
thats all for now but knowing my luck ill have a longerlist by next week haha

thanks

Hi,

Well for the fob that broke to re register it , you would need the 6 digit code that should be on the chip (opposite side to the battery) but iirc your fob did not have one. So it may be difficult.

The windscreen should be easy enough to do, do you now have the fuses and the relay in place?

Also, if you can get one , have the Alarm set to "ALWAYS" , then it will be switched off by the fob and the key in the drivers door, BUT the passive immobiliser will still work.

Cheers

hmm yeah there is no code on the old fob anyway.

i will be buying the relay on friday when i get paid. as for the switch need to get that as well

On the old broken switch fob there is no white sticker attached to a chip on the electronic board? not on the battery side? sticker will have a date and a 6 digit hexadecimal code on it.

Cheers

OK, then I would suggest you go to the bay of flea,

You have two options.

Buy a 2nd hand "genuine" Discovery 2 key fob , although do not be surprised if it turns out to be a Rover 75 one. Then when you find someone with a nanocom ask them to program the car to accept it.,then fit the old blade into the fob cover or get a new blade cut.
OR
Buy a rover 75 /45 two button key fob that looks the same as the Disco one, ( but the blade is different) then have the car programmed to accept it.

The difference between the two is what you will see on the picture I posted to your thread yesterday. On eis missing a little yellow "chip", this is the passive immobiliser chip for the D2, So if you use a rover 75 key and are a bit lazy in starting your car after getting in , the passive immobiliser will kick back in and the car will not start unless you unlock it again.

Cheers

Not according to my brother who is quite frankly crap at geography. Many years ago, he was living in Hereford and I was living in London, OK it was at least west London.
He was having problems with his car and he asked me if I could bleed the brakes for him. When I reminded him of the not insignificant distance between Hereford and London, the idiot asked if I could meet him half way to do the job in a lay-by on the Oxford by-pass.
My reply was written on a piece of paper and handed to the Clerk of the Court.
