Thanks for the link, just found out my MSV2 can unlock a locked BECM according to it.Had my Nanocom for years and never been required to use it. Came without any user instructions,I'm sure they're online but that mysterious territory to me. Never seem to have the time to have a play, just remember Wammers telling me to write everything down before you change anything.Never got to make the trip to have one to one instruction from him.Seeing it done is remembered more than reading these days.:D

Write down? Everyone just takes a snap with their smart-phone these days. That slate of yours is obselete.

You need the direct access module 035 and cable which has to be soldered to pins in the BECM for the MSV2 to unlock the BECM.

Marty scrapes the lacquer off the pins and then has some sort of chip-socket reader he gently presses on top of the chip and then his computer just reads the lot. After he makes the changes he sprays new lacquer on and job done with no soldering required.

I have chip clips, not sure I would want to use one for anything other than scoping the chip though. The lacquer is, or should be, Conformal Coating which can be soldered through with no scraping.

Sure you can go directly to JLR, a member on here did with success.;)
You should be able to - we emailed to ask as first 5 years of Otto's history are unknown (UK spec, sold 1996, first UK reg 2001 with 25,000 on the clock) and no EKA code.

They came back and said that he was sold to the Isle of Wight (where I haven't been able to trace a dealer ever having existed?) and they can give us the EKA if we ring in office hours and go through ID and V11 checks to verify we are the owners.

Sounds right. Everyone knows the baddies always drive Range Rovers.
