Hiya Peeps! Ongoing.... how the fook do you set a Nanocom tool up? I am feeling like a right plumb, read the vague destructions, watched the limited vids and followed it all to the letter, FUNCTION LOCKED!? I have gone on-line, imputed User ID and entered the relevant unlock codes for Engine and Everything else but still getting FUNCTION LOCKED? FFS, why is it so complicated. Can anyone shine a light?

I suggest checking with the guys at BBS either using they web contact page or the Nanocom forum. Which codes did you purchase ? If you login online it should confirm which vehicle the codes are for.

You should have an engine specific code, plus "Unlock08" for all the other P38 ECU's

Remember the codes are case sensitive. You Nanocom profile page will show the codes in colour.

I have two codes...... Engine and other ECU's. Went on BBS website to confirm sign up details, pin etc.. Will drop them a line. Did all the upper/lower sh1te quite a few times. Codes stored OK on the tool and in section 1 and 2 as first time use. Some of the vids show tool with an SD card in, is that just to store any captured data, didn't have one in the box?

SD card is for data capture, not needed to get it workng.

What engine do you have ? Also which box did you put the codes in ?

Another possibility is when Blackbox created you codes, they made a typo in the system !! (It has happened before, although rarely.)

Go to the Nanocom ID option in your device, and double check the ID on your hardware matches what you see when logged in to your account.

Just checked the on-line site..... should have been boxes 7 and 8, will have another crack at it in the morning, too bloody complicated for my simple head!

Be patient. They should have made it simpler but when you do it delete positions 1 & 2 and the put codes in 7&8. Then it should enable.

I popped out tonight to have a play, deleted 1 & 2 which then kept coming back so replaced them with the original ?????, not sure if that is correct way to delete? Still showing as locked out. Going to check the obd2 connector in the morning with my Icarsoft to make sure that isn't the issue.

I assume you tried deleting 1&2 and put the codes in 7&8, and then clicked save ?

There is a way to factory reset it. Download the latest 1.37 firmware and run it on a windows laptop. Connect the Nanocom, and when it shows "device attached", make sure the box "overwrite target config" is selected. Run the upgrade, and it will erase the codes & factory reset the Nanocom for you. Then enter the codes in the correct place, and you should be good to go.

Sorted now, sat in the car until 2am, it wasn't going to beat me! By accident I realised that the tool will only read BECM with ignition off whereas Engine needs to be running for comms and just ignition on for HEVAC testing? Nothing about this in any of Nanocoms destructions or on-line support? Bit poor for £500+ kit? I would at least expect a prompt from the tool rather than "computer says NO" FFS!

If you want to read the cruise control, the button needs to be on, ie. lit up. Took me ages to work that out

Should be in the instruction manual you can download from tbe support site?
