It can only communicate with BECM with ignition in position one you should get "Diagnostic mode" on dash display. You can't read BECM with engine running.

Talk to support at BBS. They're generally helpful.

When I first got mine they'd given me the wrong unlock code so it could be as simple as that.

Check you have entered the unlock code 8 correctly check case and that any zero's and oh's are correct also a lowercase L can look like a 1 or the other way round. Once the code is correct move to last code save and restart nanocom

I guess that if he has access to the other functions like hevac, eas or gearbox e also has access to becm.
Mine sometimes also cant communicate, i need to give a little push in the obd plug.
