Anyone live in the Penistone area who could come and get my Disco working? Garage wants a fortune cause they will have to come collect etc etc etc!!
Have replaced the head gasket and timing belt over winter as the timing belt had snapped. Used the Haynes step by step and replaced everything needed on the advice of Landyzone. The Engine turns fine but will not start. Checked fuel seems ok. Re-done everything twice over!!
Have had enough now its probably something really simple for someone in the know??
Please help as need the car cause my MGTF HEAD GASKET JUST GONE!!!!
Thanks in advance.

bet the fuel system not been bled out
where are you

Sorry guys just returned from work. Thanks for the replys.
I did all of above but still no luck. Prob could be fuel but i loosed all fuel lines at engine end and fuel was coming out?
As a said am at wits end cause need car for work (am in the wifes at moment, not for long!!).
Will gladly pay sombody else to get me on the road cause Lanny also needs testing/taxing and on SORN.
I live in Penistone junction 37 off M1, then head towards Woodhead pass (Manchester), 7 miles from Barnsley.
Come on guys. Sombody must want to earn some bucks or maybe dinner and free Ale, lol ???

Wired the solenoid up properly IS it getting a feed when Ignition is on???

Alex, what do you mean fuel lines right way round. Think I took them off and replaced right? Please explain, ta mate.

Didn't test selanoid wiring etc, **** with electrics anyway. Am a newbie and tried to do it myself but it didnt work. Maybe need my son on that one mate. Thanks.

When you say the belt snapped did you time the diesel pump up?

1: Crack the injector union for fuel lines and see if fuel is coming out of them!
2: use a multi-meter and check volts between the wire (stop switch) on the back of the pump.
3: check the volts in the glow plug wires

I take it the whole top end (engine) was rebuilt with new parts??

I live a good 30 plus miles some from castleford Huddy44 so prob to far for ya, thanks for reply.
Sible88 didn't time diesel pump any advice well recieved will try your 123 advice.
Yes top end rebuilt. Ta mate.

If you didn't time up your diesel pump that will be your problem!!!

You need to time the pump with the crank and cam.

Just an update, thanks guys for your excellent and prompt responses. Have got a Lanny mechanic to come round at the weekend and get the old girl going. Try as I might couldnt get her to run.

Thanks

Just an update. Thanks to everybody and their respective replys and your brilliant how to's.

The fuel pump was out of time a fair bit.

Followed instructions from this website and help from my mate Alan who knows his way around these beasts (Thanks Alan).

Is she working? if not try easy start. if she fires up you have a fueling problem. If cam belt snapped did you check valves see if any were bent. Anyway hope you got her working.

NO not easy start , it bends con rods , only a small amount but enough to lower compresion / use it to many times and it all goes to hell in a hand cart !

Well didn't know that about easy start. been using it on my old escort van for well over 18 months now. only in the mornings. But I keep using it every day till it gives up the ghost, (Which it won't) Just keeps going and going and going. Agreed only a snuff of it. Not had to use it on the disco tho. Starts in a second even when left a few days. But guess this isn't the thred to say that.

Good luck with it adeyabo

thats because its fine to use if used properly ,although having to use it would suggest poor heater plugs or compression
