Hi everyone,

I'm puzzled by an oil leak between the dipstick tube and nut that secures the tube.

I had it out and put PTFE tape around the thread and the olive, no joy, still leaks. So I bougt a new tube. I put that in and oddly it won't screw in quite so far ( about 10mm shy of the block) despite quite a lot of force, and still leaking! the engine seems to be breathing ok out of the top breather cap, so I am stumped, and the puddles of oil are prvong to be very unpopular.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Isnt there an o-ring in the dipstick assembly somewhere? You could just smear hylomar round the fitting I suppose as a quick fix

I'm not 100% sure but would PTFE tape stop oil weeping down the treads, I only use it on water fittings, but I stand to be corrected:boxing::boxing:
