Grrrrrr

As I think I mentioned a few days ago, a mystery leak! I've cleaned all the oil off after the photos were taken and it hasn't come back but that might be because the car has done less than 50 miles and now cannot move anywhere (see Bang! thread).

It is hard to see where it is coming from but it seems to be the top of the gearbox. What up there could be leaking?! The gasket between the selector box and the main box?

What colour is the oil?

MTF94 coloured and feel.

I went through a river last summer. The mud absolutely caked the engine bay. It did occur to me the bottom of the rad where the oil flows through might not be cooling and it might expand a bit but the oil looks good with no sign of overheating and could it have expanded that much without damage? I suspect not.

Trying to work out if it could be blown from somewhere to where you see it, any chance of washing the top down then running it round to see trails etc. ?

That's exactly what I've done. Hypercleaned the lot. Nothing has come out yet but it only did about 50 miles before the tensioner pulley bracket and the auxiliary belt went bang. Just waiting for the parts to fox it.

It could be coming from the breather pipes. They should sit behind the engine above the bell housing.

Thanks, Rick. I'll try and get an endoscope up there. If they've popped off I bet they're a sod to get to?
