MUDDEE

Fitted some new speakers in the passenger compartment of the disco today, tracing the wires back to the cd player i found the drivers side sound proofing on the floor under the pedals wet (underneath) so pulled the lot out and found 4 small holes with plastic bungs in with tape over em. 2 of the bungs had been pushed out and let a load of mud and water in, not good. just sitting there ready to rot the floor pan out. so ive sealed the buggers up.
im only the secound owner on the disco and i know the chap i bought it off and hes not been drilling holes where he shouldent. which means they were there from new.
soooooooo, what the hell are they for, (apart from rotting out the floor)
any ideas !!!

The holes you refer to,(if I'm not mistaken), let the excess paint run out after its been dipped at manufacture.
Every vehicle has them

Aahh, thats nice of lr to drill em right buy the front wheel so it kicks up all the wet and mud into them. very thoughtfull
cheers for that discovery es, i'll be able to sleep tonight now.
might be a good idea for those who do a lot of off roadin to flick of the carpet trim and have a look, just in case.
better that, than your floor pan rotting out.

typical solihull build quality eh, is that why the sunroofs always feckin leak, to stop the water gathering on the roof:)

spent many happy hrs welding up those holes on the mini and escort rally cars in the seventies.

so discovery es was right, seems most motors have em.
waxoiling under the disco today and bugger me, there the passenger side to.
any more of these i should know about.
