Just telling the missus how good the old Rangee was going the other day!!:D , the Diesel Injector cleaner seems to have temporary cured the old dreaded Injector light on the dashboard. When today I noticedthe EAS would not go from the Low setting to Normal run mode:confused: .

It seems to be the back right hand side not inflating I presume?. I tried driving further down the road and it still wouldn't come up to normal. So I wondered if I turned sharply round a bend would the weight coming off that corner be enough?...sure enough it was. I have had no fault come up yet on the dash.

I presume the bag is split or whatever. What are my options?. (All the bags will be the same age). I love the EAS but I presume the repair cost is huge?, Especially with the compressor being aged.

What have you guys found to be the best and cheapest solution???.
Break it to me gently!!.:( :(

your best bet is to get it checked on a computer,i had the same problem and it turned out to be the compressor on my one but it could be a ride height sensor or a leak.you can get a repair kit for the compressor which works out a lot cheaper and you can buy an eas cable and soft ware cheaply of ebay which you load into your laptop and you can diagnose the faults yourself, good luck cliff

Yep. It might be worth overhauling the pump. Mine was slow rise and the rear usually went up first until I put a new kit in the pump. Ebay sells them. Worth it for peace of mind. And mine didn't show a fault either. If it's a ride height sensor it will go into fault mode. My garage charged £75.00 to fit one and reset the fault.

Go and put the kettle on make yourself a brew, now sit down and read this in comfort at the puter.

All your questions will be answered here:

Range Rover P38/4.0/4.6 Common Problems and Fixes

PS. you can buy a set of 4 air bags off ebay for 250.00 GBP and fit them yourself....plus if you have a laptop you can download a free program for reading faults and resetting the heights stored in the EAS.

Now watch these vids: EASunlock Software operation and EAScalibrate Software operation, here:

Range Rover EAS Reset Tools

This site also sells the special cable required for the program. Cable> Range Rover EAS Reset Tools

Where do you live matey ?, ive got a cable and the software downloaded onto me laptop already.

If you live anywhere near Derbyshire/ south yorkshire just give me a shout and i will come and give you a helping hand.

  Bugger, Live in New Zealand now, I emigrated a couple of years ago with the Rangee. I think I have the only Diesel (DSE) over here! as everyone has the 4.6 petrol model!!, hence i'm buggered for most spare parts. I remember just before I left the UK I asked for a price on the airbags and was told about £600 every corner (fitted) (£2400) they said they were perished then, but I have done alot of miles since.

I have been looking on ebay at the reset tools and there is also an Air suspension specialist listed there that may be able to help in the future.

I suppose I can't leave it too long or the compressor will crap out?.

I appreciate the help guys.

Hmmm a couple of problems on my latest outing towing a boat!!, going up a fairly steep continuous hill and lost power like the faults before(past thread) only this time without the engine warning light!!.
No fault came up and no lights but power was not available until accelerator pedal was completely released.Ooooh dear.
After getting back in the end!, the following day I noticed that the EAS was stuck on the lowest setting!, again with no fault on the dash (this thread!). I just ordered a diagnostic lead and software from the UK I think this could be an extremely expensive couple of months!!!!!!.
Why do we never give up on these things!!!

Ok the ols EAS fault has finally come up!. Max speed 35MPH and all that jazz. I bridged the relay and the compressor fired up straight away, the overtemp. and pressure sensors seem ok. I suspect the back driver side bag, as I looked and it seemed alot more perishing than the other three and this was where the fault seemed to be.
Interesting links from before, especially the unplugging EAS or the towel method. In theory this should shed some light on the problem. Just waiting for my diagnostic equipment to come through now so I can clear the fault, inflate the bags and doing the above should tell me which bag is leaking/O ring etc.
Is there anyway I can manually test the ride height sensor?.

Regards

Paul

Alright,
Check for obvious leaks and worn out bags first. Leaving the engine running and leaving a door open will allow the compressor to run and recharge the air tank. Should take no longet than 15 minutes. Then closing the door, and selectig a height will send the car quickly to the selected height. If the compressor takes forever then might be time for a rebuild.

Any major leaks should be immediately obvious. If the car raises and settles, then turn off the engine and get out. Walk around the car and listen intently to each air spring. Any leaking is sometimes audible. Then get the soapy water out and begin spraying down the oring fittings.

Once the car is at height, either unplug the EAS Computer or leave one of the doors open overnight. This will disable the EAS computer from adjusting the heights. The next morning manually check the height of each corner with a measuring stick from the cente rof the wheel hub to the cente rof the wheel arch. Any leaky bag should be distinctly lower.

Any need to clear or read the faults, goto my website Range Rover EAS Reset Tools The EASunlock software that I have written is free and I just updated the software as well. For air springs and rebuild kits, I would go through Range Rover Air Suspension repair, advice and troubleshooting by Rover Renovations. Contact Dennis, he has just about every possible part for the EAS.

Pretty certain now that it's the compressor seal, done all the checks on everything else. I just ordered one from Rover Renovations so fingers crossed!!.

Yes!!!! I took the compressor to bits today to find the old piston seal had almost completely worn away!!!, I replaced it with a new one and she is running sweet now.

Thanks for all your advice:high5:
