Right folks, got the one shot grease pouches bought and had a look this weekend at getting it done. However, I can't find where the old stuff will come out. Probably stupid but having checked Busters guide mine looks different. It's a Jap re-import, should it make a difference?.

you will have to undo seal retainer and prise seal out, leave it awhile and it will run out whats left anyhow

1. The picture is too small for me to examine it for differences &

2. If it had EP oil in it, it's long gone, so if it's got "1-shot" grease in already it shouldn't need changing.

3. There should be a drain plug at the bottom of the swivel housing for draining out fluid.


Most TDi's will have the 1-shot grease in them now as LR were advising this since about 1998 I believe.

I couldn't find the drain plug in mine, and the pics in the Haynes manual didn't match up with what I had, so guess it's done once and forever.
 
Should have put a jack under it

I shouldn't of undone the bolts I thought they only held the brake pipe bracket on, thinking about it 2 of them big bolts on a little bracket is a bit overkill! Not had a problem with it recently though :)

Cheers Dave. That's the problem, there is no drain plug. As an aside, the swivels were like this when I bought it. My mechanic told me that all the grease on them was a good thing as it kept the swivels well lubricated. Have I been told a load of horse stuff?
