Hello everyone and welcome to my build/resurrection thread for my RR L322. I come from a technical Audi background but this is my first Landy. Long story short, I've picked up a 52 plate RR L322 3.0 td6 for a good price. This car will be a little project for me from now and through the summer. It has a few issues but I'll share them below and can't wait to get started on ticking them all off one by one.

What I've picked up on so far:
Front heated screen inop (Light on button stays on but no change to screen)
Ac inop (Low gas?)
Heated steering wheel inop
Clicking from drivers dash panel when first unlocking and opening drivers door (Electric adj skipping?)
Water in spare wheel well (Sunroof drains blocked?)
Air suspension light flashes for ages when changed, no warnings, no height change/loss (Compressor?)
Been told canbus fault with gearbox, sometimes it will refuse to drive, other times it's completely fine. Not had time to properly test this for myself yet though. Would like to observe this myself and proceed diagnostically from there.
Rust on the back arches and boot lid (Heard this is common, will look to swap lid and save the arches)

Good luck, hope your good with vehicle electrics the P38 was bad and the L322 my mate had was worse..

Yours looks nice inside..

Yes inside was a state when I bought it, a thorough going over with the hoover, an unblocking of said hoover and another going over with the hoover has brought things up nicely though. Also went over all interior parts with some AG interior shampoo and a microfibre. Some bits came in the post today, which will be fitted in due course, modified breather module, plus some strong leather cleaner and a soft brush to go over the leathers with at some point, plus that manky steering wheel :eek: Although this may just get replaced pending heated steering wheel diagnosis.

Anyway, lets move swiftly into the first of the headaches listed above, water ingress! :D

Only the NSR is suffering as far as I can tell. Emptied about a litre of water out the spare wheel well a few days ago, pleased to say it hasn't filled back up at the same speed but is still prevalent none the less. I've removed the sunroof drain from the nsr of the sunroof and it was dry inside with no water up at the top. Also tested the osr boot hinge and boot seal itself, both seemed okay, but it was by no means a water test to rival a nights worth of heavy rain. I'm suspecting nsr hinge tbh but I might have to get the talc out and work out the trace of the water. I've dried all the moisture that i could see today, so will recheck tomorrow after some o/night rain.

Keen to know everyone else's thoughts
 
So a little update on the water ingress. After drying all that I could see with a microfibre cloth and concluding that the nsr boot hinge was the most likely culprit, I put some grease round the hinge to keep the water at bay temporarily. In the morning, after heavy rain over night, no more water on the previously dried parts! This leaves either leak fixed or a minor leak. Both of which are fine until I move into the new house with a double garage where I can give things a proper fix.

Moving onto that manky steering wheel, i decided to give it a good going over with some strong leather cleaner and a brush pureply to satisfy my OCD more than anything else. Boy was it dirty! But it came up real nice in fairness. Sadly diagnosis on the heated wheel reveals open circuit on heater wires and thermistor wires so the wheel will be replaced for a working one. Nice clean replacement wheel for someone with a non-heated wheel though! Before and after below

Only a small update for today as I've been working all week and Sat. Plus the weather is bitterly cold to be out working on the RR. Just a few cheap and easy things to help the rear of the car. New lower tailgate retaining straps and new number plate light covers, all for around 22 quid so why not. Think I'll also be getting a new O/S reverse light unit too as I have a newer one on the n/s which just doesn't match.
