Well I am nearing the completion of my Defender 90 Build. And I'm going to miss tinkering. So here is my next project.

Hope to get stuck into building one good Series 1 out of 3. I have a good rolling chassis that just needs minor repairs. I will keep u all posted.

The first one was pulled out of a ditch and the chassis was folded in 2, it is in a real sorry state. We done well to get it home in one piece. Although all of the panels are in good conditin. The one behind that was bought 2 years ago and it came with a rolling chassis and a truck load of spares. At least one of them will be resurrected from the dead.

always good to see an s1 being put back on the road, they might arguably be mechanically inferior to the later ones but there is just something about the look of a one that makes it cooler than the others

yes the rolling chassis and bulkhead is good enough to be galvanized once a minor repair has been carried out. I will get a photo of the roller later this evening.

Are you going to use the original engine (what engines in it anyway?) or go for something like a tdi or a v8 like drevils monstrosity? :D

Will be watching with interest, looks like you'll have a good project ahead of you :)

looks a good windscreen on the first one and the brackets on the bonnet to fold it down onto

Ace in the summer with no back on ,no door tops and the screen down

Thanks guys. The focus at the minute us to get the defender finished. But I've been very I'll for a week now. I hope to get. it finished before Christmas.

Then the focus will shift to getting the Series 1 started. The front one has it's original engine, but boy does it need work. Want to keep it original as possible.

More details to follow this week.

Ha Ha I've just noticed the front Series 1 is a 86" and the back one is a 88". Must check the chassis tomorrow......

I must clear all the parts of it and check. I have my work cut out for me. Too many bits n pieces lying about.

They both want restoring, would be a shame to scrap one to build the other especially the 80". In fact even though the 80" has snapped in half it would still fetch good money which would fund the other build.
Or restore the 80" and trial the other:D
Here's a couple I built back in the 80's

So I did a bit of digging last night so I could take the following photos

Does it look like I have the makings of 2 80" series 1's?
