I got back to Ireland from UK with my new range p38 1995 4.0se a one owner 46000 miles and everything works except vanity mirror light and heated seats not working said gent who sold it to me (I can live with that) so handed over 1400 English pounds.

The drive home to Co. Laois Ireland from Cambridgeshire was pleasant with no issues. I am delighted with the car. It is in Epsom green with dark tan upholstery and very very original no side steps no light guards in fact nothing that should not be there.
The seller presented every tax disc from when the car was new and every mot since it ever needed one and also full service history from main dealer also in Cambridge a local car all of it's life.

Now I can't wait to get it dirty. This morning on turning on ignition the display shows gearbox fault ! and i have been informed a new battery may cure the fault any comments welcome

:welcome2:

The P38's hate weak/old/duff batteries....they cause alsorts of havoc with the ECU's

Also check the Fusebox for signs or smells of burning - they are a common fail item....

My old DSE everynow and then would tell me of a gearbox warning - particularly after being left for a few days for the battery to drop a little.....

stick around here on Landyzone - a wealth of information is available....

Battery most likely. Battery Megastore Alphaline 135AH 1000 CCA is the biggest that will fit, cures a multitude of problems. (no connection)

That is a very low mileage. Looks like you've done well once the initial hiccups are sorted ------------------------------------------- or -------------------------------------------- the bugger's never worked properly.

Here's hoping the first!

dont worry, just bought mine as well. belt idler pulley seized and took the belt lol. had it standing for over a week now and my mom, ( god bless her ) managed to start it first time!

welcolme to the world of Landyzone!

Update : a brand new Bosch battery has sorted the problem thank you for the advice guys :car:.
I have had a chance to look through all the paperwork that came with the car and note that the last mot had an advisories 1: rear number plate delaminating 2: all air bags are perished. So have done some homework and decided to keep it original and keep with air. I know there will always be criticism about my decision but keep it real is the way i am going.
I decided to get my hands on a used set of generation 3 bags, a lad had fitted them about 6 months ago and had major problems with his motor and decided to get a Peugeot , so i grabbed a bargain €200. I just ordered new clips and hope to get the job sorted next week. Will upload some pics of the car asap

You won't get Criticism with keeping it on air - you will get flamed for putting it on coils though!! :D:D:D
