After waiting for months (felt like years) and even though I wanted a LWB, I've bit the bullet. She's not got a name yet, but meet ……….. 1980 SWB with a 200TDI :D

Its defiantly solid, thats the only reason I bought her. Few little jobs to sort (and they will probably never stop), so expect some questions lol. I even managed to get it in the budget Dragon control (the wife) set.

Looks lovely, however i'd be inclined to drop a 2/1/4 in there ;)

Bet that 200 rattles ya teeth out and makes ya ears bleed!!! ;)

agree ^^ but a proper deisel one none of this doesn't like being slightly damp petrol rubbish!

Looks very good for an old truck. Lets have a look at the 200 conversion.
And ENJOY.:)

Looks good buy, If you get a chance would you have a look behind numberplate I’m wondering if the hole in bumper for the starting handle still aligns with the crank bolt with the 200tdi in , its a mod I’m considering but not sure if the fairy winch would still fit cheers

Looks like a pretty tidy installation. Check heater pipes, they should be warm/hot at all times the engine running. The heat entering the cab is controlled by a flap in the heaterbox.
Exhaust clamp below turbo may be contacting heater box and needs turning a bit.
Is there an oil cooler ?
And is there a cooling fan in front of the rad ? Not that 200's need one 95% of the time.
In case you don't know that is a Defender 200 with the high turbo not the usual Disco conversion.

Looking at it, I'd say it does

When I had my last series I dropped a 12j in, so this 200 lark is new to me. But it defiantly doesn't seem right having a old series this nippy lol

1. Yes, the pipes are warn and entering the heater box. Doesn't look like the heater box is wired up (electrically) and I know for sure the warm/cold switch isn't connected
2. I think the picture has obscured it a little, there is plenty of room
3. There is to the left hand side of the grill, but no turbo intercooler
4. There is a electric fan with a switch on the dash, would I benefit for buying a grill muff in the winter?
5. Not a clue, is that good or bad lol?

Yes you do need the fan going to get much out of the heater.
I found grill muff not much good [ air just travels around underneath it ] I wedge a cardboard sheet in a plastic bag covering the lower half of the rad, tight against the rad face.

Have you got a heater motor /fan fitted at end of corrugated hose on heater box and does this work

I've not had chance to look yet tbh, hoping to get on to it tomorrow. I just worrying now that I'll not be able to register it as tax & MOT except come Feb due to the 200tdi been fitted :-(

Should be ok , the wording of substantial change for the engine would not apply I would guess as it’s basically the same engine block wise anyway , some one on here will be able to answer more definitively
