Hi, I've just bought a defender, I've replaced the high lift suspension with a 20mm lowering kit and removed the god awful breather pipe thing that stuck out the side of the car; instead I've fitted a k&n filter to give a bit throat behind it. To finish off the look i've fitted a set of momo arrow 22inch loys which will help in the snow and off road but I've heard my wife's Nissan Duke is pretty good for green planning. I'll upload some greats pics soon.

Hey mate stick some stripes on it as well!! It will make it go faster !
Green planning ?? ??
:mooning:

G-Mack, I think stripes would spoil the look, although my old freelander had them. Yeah green planning means taking the car off road it's legal ,give it a go. So far I prefer my old freelander, the 1.8 engine was great, it was the best off roader. Thanks for your post.

Hi Corbs, my wife said its called Planning, my mistake. Maybe you guys can explain something.... Since fitting the low profile tyres my defender appears to have great grip off road so why do people fit silly chunky types to their vehicles ?

Being on a driveway is technically off road!
If you hv removed the snorkel and added an open k&n you hv increased your wading depth No end!! You should b fine going into water up to your roof rack!

I've been off road, when I moved the caravan. I didn't know about increasing my water depth ability, wait 'til I rub that in the wifes face, I'll try it this weekend in Yorkshire. The lanes there are easy, with the new tyre and wheels it'll be more than capable I think.

Looking forward to seeing the pics of your greenlaning trip. In view of the weather you must try out every ford and river crossing you find, the K&N will let that engine breathe so much more easily.

I do remember (On another kind of car), a K and N filter was dyno tested against a standard one and the engine lost power.

Hi again, the gent at the local car-boot sale where I purchased the K&N filter told me it will increases air flow by 14% compared with a standard box enclosure filter, thus allowing the engine to breath easier when submerged.

We have arrived in West Yorkshire, and are going to give the Oxenhope lane a run. Does anyone know of a way I can protect my alloys from getting scratched whilst doing this Green Planning??

Thanks for all the support
