Excuse the ugly mug in the way. I took this for something else but thought I would chuck it on here too.
Loving it at the moment. Needs a service which I plan to do myself and also needs to dashboard removed to fix the fan. Having never done anything mechanical in my life I'm not quite brave enough to tackle that yet . . .

Nice looking landy. Are you on about the heater fan, because if you are then it's under the bonnet and not behind the dash.

Hi,

No it's not that shiny any more thank God!
I am on about the heater fan, sorry didn't make make myself clear. The reason I was talking about taking the Dash off was because the actual switch/arm/ whatever it's called in the Dash itself is jammed.
I took it off today and had a look. It's still sitting fine in the runners. Seems potentially to be the wire cable coming off the bottom that dissapears off downwards somewhere that's actually seized. Any suggestions? Like getting someone who has a f**king clue what there doing to look at it I suppose.

ask in the defender section better coverage in there

you can disconnect the cable from the heater box under the bonnet and see if the lever will move then. If not the cable has rusted solid (unlikely) or if lever moves then your problem is is the heater box
